If you saw or heard President Obama’s opening remarks at the Republican Caucus meeting in Baltimore, you witnessed an expert leftist taking that one step backward in order to later take two steps forward. That’s straight out of Lenin’s communist strategy book. When you are faced with a strong opposition, you take a step back. And so, Obama sounded very conciliatory, urging Republicans to join with him in pushing legislation that both could agree on, particularly on matters of defense and veterans’ benefits.
The philosophy of Multiculturalism has been around since the 1970s and it now infects every aspect of American life. Its latest nefarious manifestation is in airport security, where the notion that all ethnic groups are of equal value has made ethnic profiling a no-no. Just because all of the suicide bombers have been Islamic jihadists does not mean that young Moslem men should be singled out for greater scrutiny than anyone else.
All candidates for office promise to “improve education,” but when they are elected, they haven’t the faintest idea of how to proceed from there. That’s because the whole idea of education reform is based more on the deliberate falsehoods produced by the educators than on the reality of why our schools are the way they are.
The fact that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the 23-year-old al-Qaida operative from Nigeria, was able to board an American airliner in Amsterdam with bomb-making materials in his underwear would indicate that the system created by the federal government to prevent this from happening failed. And it failed in a big way. Almost 300 lives would have been lost had his bomb exploded.
In its efforts to be politically correct, the U.S. Postal Service has decided to issue holiday stamps to accommodate the beliefs and non-beliefs of everyone. In the old days the Postal Service issued a traditional Christmas stamp based on Christian beliefs. After all, Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ, not the birth of anyone else.
The new national healthcare bill (aptly titled “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009," H.R.3962) which narrowly passed the House on November 7th, was apparently designed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her staff of totalitarians. It added one thousand new pages to the already one thousand it had before Madame Defarge Pelosi decided it needed more regulations, more coercion and more punishments. It forces everyone to buy health insurance, and if you don’t comply you will be fined and/or jailed.
Most Americans want less government, smaller government and lower taxes. The only way to accomplish this is by abolishing federal departments and bureaucracies. As far back as the Reagan administration, Republicans promised to abolish the Department of Education. They couldn’t do it then because they lacked a majority in Congress. But whatever happened to the plan to abolish the Department of Education when Republicans became the majority? Not only did they forget their promise, but in September 1996 they passed the single largest increase in federal education funding: $3.5 billion. Who were the Republicans trying to impress? The National Education Association?
At the National Education Association’s convention, held last July in San Diego, retiring general counsel of the organization, Bob Chanin, in his swan-song speech to the union’s faithful, asked the rhetorical question, “Why are these conservative and right-wing b*****ds picking on the NEA and its affiliates?”
We would not have to ask the above question if public education had not become the great, costly, and tragic failure that it is. It has failed the children, but in reality it has not failed the progressives. They were the ones who engineered the dumbing-down process which parents and taxpayers continue to pay for. But it is the children who suffer in terms of becoming intellectually disabled, semi-literate, disoriented, frustrated, and terribly unhappy. But what is even a bit disheartening is that many liberals still believe that government schooling has been a noble experiment.
According to my dictionary, a gangster is a member of a gang of criminals. Criminals, of course, are guilty of crimes. A crime is an act committed in violation of a law prohibiting it, or omitted in violation of a law ordering it.
