Boy Set on Fire in Brutal Revenge Attack
In one of the most heinous crimes imaginable, a 15-year-old Florida boy was set ablaze by five other teens in a revenge attack stemming from a dispute over a video game.
Don’t Cry for Roman Polanski
Even if time does heal all wounds, it certainly doesn’t make us forget all crimes. And, finally, after 31 years on the run from U.S. authorities, Roman Polanski, director, producer, writer, actor, and rapist, may be brought to justice.
United Nations Plan: Teach Masturbation to 5-Year-Olds
A while back we heard about the United Nations pact that would prohibit parents from choosing their children's religion. Now the UN is issuing another dystopian proposal, a sex-education curriculum that would teach children as young as five about masturbation and "gender roles, stereotypes and gender-based violence." And those are just two elements in a 98-page report issued by the UN's Economic, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and which includes curricula for children between the ages of 5 and 18. Joseph Abrams at FoxNews reports, writing:
Mom Arrested for Having Fat Son
While America may not have anything resembling Saudi Arabia's religious police, called "The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice," we do have our own strange version of vice squads. Only, the trespasses they root out today are less likely to involve heroin and harlots than Twinkies and trans-fats. And their latest move is the arrest of a mother and the seizure of her child. Her crime? Her son is too fat.
Should Taxes Pay for Abortion, Secularism?
Washington, D.C., would be able to use tax money to fund abortions under a $768 million spending bill passed by the House on July 16. An AP story carried by FoxNews.com and other media reports: "The measure passed by a narrow 219-208 margin, with many anti-abortion Democrats voting against it because of the move by Democratic leaders to permit the D.C. government to use locally raised tax revenues to provide abortions — reversing a long-standing ban imposed by Congress."
Too Much Media Action for Jackson
It seems as if Michael Jackson has done the impossible. That is, he appears to be getting more media coverage — and more of the favorable variety — in death than Barack Obama does in life.
School Bans Girl from Wearing Pro-life T-shirt
Should expressing pro-life sentiments make you a pariah behind schoolhouse doors? Well, whether it should or not, a case out of Scotland indicates that it certainly can — and does.
A Real Duke Rape Case
We all remember the infamous Duke University rape frame-up case, in which three white lacrosse players were falsely accused of raping a black female stripper. It was front-page news coast to coast, as it had all the elements of a mainstream-media cause célèbre: the perfect victim and the perfect villains, a “downtrodden” black woman of modest means and three “privileged” white college boys. Thus did the hard-left alliance of media, academia, and a Democrat prosecutor try its best to lynch the three, and if the stripper’s story hadn’t changed with the wind, the students could very well be sitting in prison currently.
Putting Hollywood in the Hallowed
First there were “inclusive language” Bibles, which extended a bizarre form of chivalry to feminists with lexical peculiarities such as “Our Mother/Father who art in Heaven.” Now, there is something equally bizarre: a Bible illustrated with pictures of celebrities who supposedly exemplify goodness and compassion. Writes Beliefnet.com:
Home Bible Study Threatened in Bonito, Calif.
If the Chinese need any help with their crackdown on the Falun Gong religious group, perhaps they should try to recruit San Diego County bureaucrats. Because if a recent attempt on the municipality’s part to stifle Bible study in a private home in Bonita, California, is any indication, there are at least some in its employ who have missed their dark calling.
