Anglers Beware: Environmentalists Have Set Sights on Plastic Worms
Environmentalists have set their sights on soft plastic lures, with the intention of banning their use.
VA Hospitals: Everything That's Wrong With Government Healthcare
Recently, more than 570 veterans in upstate New York received some dire news that could be classified as tragic irony: After they have survived wars and occupations overseas, the very health system that was meant to protect them at home — the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) — could ultimately end up being the very thing that kills them.

No More Twinkies: Unions and the Death of Hostess
Today is a dark day for U.S. manufacturing as the storied corporation Hostess Brands Inc. announced that it was closing shop and liquidating, selling off its brands, facilities, and equipment. It is a sad ending to a company that had been in operation since 1930 and had weathered the Great Depression and the Great Recession. The closing will bring an end to a staggering 18,500 jobs.
Farmers Beware Obama's Second Term
Farmers — and those who enjoy their produce — are probably asking themselves this: Why does the Obama administration so hate farming? The answer is two-fold: It likely comes down to freedom and corporatism.
Obama's Chinese Tendencies
In campaign speeches September 17 in the swing state of Ohio, President Obama railed against imported automotive components that are illegally subsidized by the Chinese government.
Constitutionalists should find fault with Obama’s crusade du jour. His case against China is hypocritical, because his administration is guilty of the very thing he accuses China of (but on an even greater scale). He is after all, the president who claims he saved General Motors. Under his watch, the federal government contributed $76 billion to GM and Chrysler. Doubtless those are government subsidies, and the original total was 76 times greater than the amount Obama claims China kicked in to their automotive industry.
Obama’s subsidization of the American auto industry — immoral, illogical, and illegal — is just one piece of the gigantic puzzle that shows his non-Americanist ways. He has Chinese-like tendencies, founded upon the preachings of the Communist Manifesto.
Federal Entitlements: Living Large in Poverty
Because of federal entitlements, those who are theoretically living in poverty actually have a standard of living comparable to and, in some cases, better than, the working class who are forced into paying their way.
The CLASS Act Is No Class Act
In the coming months, the Department of Health and Human Services will be ironing out the details of the CLASS Act and submitting information to employers in preparation for enrolling their employees into the voluntary program in 2012.
"Stand Your Ground" and Self Defense
Imagine that you and your family find yourselves in a potentially deadly situation in which an armed thug has entered your home in the middle of the night with the intent to rob your home and to physically harm, even kill, your loved ones. In a perfect world, you would defend your family by exercising your God-given (and constitutionally-recognized) right to self-defense by brandishing a firearm to scare off the criminal or, if necessary, to fire upon him to neutralize the threat that he poses, exerting the same deadly force he had intended to use upon you.
Let Capitalism Decide the Minimum Wage
For weeks now politicians in New York have debated ad nauseum Assemblyman Sheldon Silver’s proposal to increase the minimum wage in New York State by $1.25. The argument — whether to maintain the status quo or strive for $8.50 per hour — is wasteful political rhetoric in itself, for the determination of the wage scale is best left to the free markets.
