President Obama may soon have to expend some of that recently earned bin Laden capital in convincing states to participate in one of the programs central to his oft-mentioned “comprehensive immigration reform” package.

Jan BrewerOn Thursday, April 28, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed SB 1406 into law. The bill authorizes the Grand Canyon State to enter into an interstate compact with other states to erect a security fence along the section of the border with Mexico that runs through that state.

On Tuesday, the Alabama House of Representatives passed an immigration bill designed to crack down Arizona-style on those illegally present in the Heart of Dixie.

Congressman Gregg Harper (R-Miss., picture, left) is chairman of the House Administration Committee and he is concerned about the number of illegal aliens casting votes in elections around the country.

Illinois Congressman Luis V. Gutierrez advocates a “parole-in-place” program that would allow illegal aliens with children to remain in the United States.

The New York Times story sets the scene of a shocking situation in  the foothills of San Gabriel, California:

Earlier this week, New Mexico Secretary of State Dianna J. Duran (pictured, left) announced that her office has made a disturbing discovery. After a two-day-long probe into possible fraud in the voter registration rolls, Duran and her team reported that their investigation revealed that at least 117 names of foreign nationals appeared in that database.

Over the past five years, the number of Mexican immigrants returning to their homeland has increased substantially over the same period beginning in 2000.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton announced Wednesday “record-breaking immigration enforcement statistics achieved under the Obama administration.” Specifically, they crowed about an “unprecedented numbers of convicted criminal alien removals and overall alien removals in fiscal year 2010.”
