Fort HoodWhile completing his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Major Nidal Hasan told an audience of fellow physicians that the army should excuse Muslim soldiers from serving in combat zones where they would be fighting others of their faith. If Muslims in the U.S. Armed Forces were not thus afforded conscientious objector status, then there could be “adverse effects,” Hasan warned.

mailboxHouseholds nationwide will begin to receive their 2010 federal census surveys in the mail in March. The U.S. Constitution (Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3) established the census to be taken every decade to determine Congressional representation and direct taxation. The official web page for the 2010 Census says that filling out these forms is important not only for Constitutional reasons, but also because $400 billion in federal funding to states for a myriad of unconstitutional programs depends on the numbers generated.

Eric HolderAttorney General Eric Holder announced November 13 that the United States will bring five alleged September 11 co-conspirators to New York for a criminal trial. “I am confident in the ability of our courts to provide these defendants a fair trial, just as they have for over 200 years,” Holder told the press. “The alleged 9/11 conspirators will stand trial in our justice system before an impartial jury under long-established rules and procedures.”

A Christian man from Florida tried to send flowers to Major Nidal Hasan’s Ft. Hood hospital room. The message on the note accompanying the bouquet told the man accused of murdering 12 soldiers and one civilian in Ft. Hood on November 5 that in “God’s eye … you are a hero.”

Nobody wants to disappoint President Obama on the eve of the holiday season, so all the stops are going to be removed in order to deliver a comprehensive healthcare bill to his desk by Christmas. White House Budget Director Peter Orszag reckons that procedural and political obstacles notwithstanding, a bill creating a new system of national healthcare will be ready for President Obama’s signature before the end of the year.
