On November 6, Congressman Dave Camp (R-Mich.), the senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, released a letter he received from the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) in response to his inquiry as to potential penalties for failing to comply with mandates set forth in the so-called “Affordable Health Care for America Act.” The information set out in the response should be shocking, but such unconstitutional abuses of power are becoming de rigueur and have almost lost their ability to stupefy. Still, the details are sinister, and as the old saying goes, the devil is definitely in them. The time to register opposition to the House healthcare bill is now. Americans can communicate with their representative about H.R. 3962 by clicking here.

... I guess this means a lot of stimulus money will need to be spent on new jails around the country because a lot of patriotic Americans would rather be imprisoned than allow the government to destroy what's left of our freedom. |

Come on Mr. President are you kidding the American People? I am one of the 15.7 million Unemployed, and I need health insurance, BUT and this is a big BUT, how can you even think of offering up a bill that would cause the unemployed more expenses when we are already struggling to make ends meet? I am one of the many that fall into the gray area of not qualifying for public assistance. Now you want to add insult to injury by adding in a jail term and or civil fines? PLEASE this is not what we signed up for when we elected you President. Please be realistic. We the Unemployed can’t handle anymore disappointments or expenses for that matter. I am unemployed and need to worry about keeping a roof over my families head, food on the table and heat in my home, all these things cost $$$. The Health care bill states “affordable” health care. Please define affordable, it is $1, $50, $200? Are the payments monthly, weekly, what? Please define the gray areas. We need to be protected not victimized. It is bad enough that the greedy CEO put us on the unemployment lines now the government wants to get in bed with them? Personally, I think the only person that deserves to be jailed is Nancy Pelosi. Pass a bill that we can live with not want to die for. Thank you. |

15 K? They are out of their minds! They can't be serious. I thought this whole "public" healthcare outcry business was about trying to get "free healthcare" (particularly for poor people, the "children" they always talk about who cant afford it) or "socialized medicine" like they have in some countries, which of course would cripple the government's budget, so is unrealistic. This idea of forcing you to BUY insurance that hardly anyone can afford is literally insane, and does nothing but make insurance companies the biggest financial kings since Solomon. If anyone could afford this ridiculous idea, they would already have bought health insurance. 15 THOUSAND dollars a year?!! Have they no idea how many poor people are in this country? Have legislators lost their minds and think everyone makes 100K a year?? I can count on ONE hand the number of years I have made that much or more in a year, (and Im over 40) and that was the GROSS - the ENTIRE salary. Hello? what happened to living on your money? There would be more people in jail than we have room for in the entire country because there would be thousands, millions even, who can't possibly dream of paying more than they even make in one year for INSURANCE. PLUS copays?? AND deductibles? what is this, fantasy island?? or just plain the biggest con artist rip off the entire country scam thats ever been thought of? I could go as many times as I wanted to a doctor in a year, and pay CASH for all services, and not come anywhere NEAR paying 15 grand. This country must never go back to the dark ages of throwing people into jail just because they are poor. |

Bait and Switch In our state of Oklahoma we had a similar ordeal. This candy coated bill was to make sure that everybody was safe who traveled our roads by making insurance mandatory. Low and behold we find out that our insurance rates rose and the same people were still driving without insurance. Looks like the feds took a lesson from Oklahoma. |

... Perhaps the people panning this article would be good enough to specify WHY the article was wrong instead of just saying, in effect, "Nuh-Uh!" |

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is prepared to jail any American who does not buy a qualifying health insurance plan if the healthcare bill she sponsored (H.R. 3962, as amended) is passed into law.
