Boehner said the Republican version would cover millions of presently uninsured Americans, but it would not be as ambitious as the House Democratic proposal brought out last week. The Democratic plan is estimated to bring coverage to more than 30 million uninsured Americans at a 10-year price tag of $1.055 trillion.

... Oh! At last, the Great Republican Party is coming to save us! They KNOW the Democrats intend to figuratively "slice our throats, left to right". Hence, they produce a bill to save us all. They KNOW it would be better if it were done "right to left". Republicrats, Demoplicans... I have no use for either. NO SOCIALIZED MEDICINE! NO HEALTHCARE BILL --- OF ANY KIND! |

Existing GOP Healthcare Bill calls for Biometric ID's & nation-wide medical database The Republicans already have a bill, HR 2520, the so-called "Patient's Protection Act". Hidden within free-market rhetoric, that bill calls for both a biometric identifier for all Medicare recipients and a nationwide database for your medical informaton!! (H/t CCHC comparison chart and Institute for Health Freedom.) Once the fedgov mandates the digitization and standardization of medical information, our personal data will surely and swiftly be collected by Washington DC -- no matter the paper promises of privacy. It's inevitable. And with that data, plus our dollars, they will literally make life and death decisions. We need to be on the lookout for the same poison in the new Republican bill. DRS |

... "They intend to bring up the their measure during debate on the Democratic bill." Yuh, right, on the Democratice bill that the Republi-CONS voted unanimously to block. So exactly when are they planning to bring up this "miracle bill." "All a government-run option would have to do to put private insurance out of business is reimburse healthcare providers at Medicare rates. Healthcare providers would then charge private insurance companies higher rates to cover their losses." Uh, the insurance companies are already underpaying the health care providers. That's part of the problem and the cause of the vicious circle. They underpay the providers, the providers then up their costs (and the "patient responsibility" part) so that the insurers will pay more, but the insurers pay less, and so the circle goes on ad infinitum. Frankly, if the Republi-CONS don't think it can be addressed with a tax cut, they refuse to think about it. Wouldn't want to over tax their brains. I'm just saying... |

House Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio) announced on November 1 that his party is preparing a healthcare reform bill to compete with the Democratic alternative.
