The 51-year-old Kansas native admitted to walking into Reformation Lutheran Church on May 31, 2009, stepping up to Tiller, who served as an usher in the church, and shooting him in the head. Roeder’s defense team had hoped that his own testimony about his motive behind the killing might convince Judge Warren Wilbert to allow the jury to consider a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter, which Kansas state law defines as “an unreasonable but honest belief that circumstances existed that justified deadly force.”

Pro-Choice Violence - the media censors Recently pro-lifer Jim Pouillon was murdered while peacefully standing in a public place protesting abortion. Yet- the national media never mentions the incident and never charges the pro-choicers with a history of violence. Also recently, a pro-choicer attacked a pro-lifer by putting a knife to her throat, and several women have died from abortions at the hands of pro-choice doctors. Where is the fair coverage here? Pro-choice violence is rampant and yes- I , like Father Frank Pavone, have in the course of my pro-life stand received threats, been assaulted, and had objects thrown at me by pro-choice people. I came across this website which others may want to look at to see how often pro-choice violence has occurred in the past year alone. ... Scott Roeder was convicted, and rightly so. He committed one count of murder. I am curious, though, with how many counts of murder should George Tiller have been charged (but never was)? Both will stand before the Supreme Judge of the Universe. Scott Roeder may have the better defense argument. |

I hate to say it but.... I can't condemn Roeder personally. I don't think, if I were on the jury I would have convicted him. If Tiller had been kidnapping and murdering kids in his backyard nobody would be up in arms about his getting shot. If mothers were bringing their little babies to him at a month old to be killed, his death would have still been justified. But since the babies didn't get a chance to be born, that is supposed to change everything? I wonder if Roeder really was simply trying to protect life. (And no, I'm not saying we should be committing any acts of license, but I am saying that in his mind, I think he did what he thought was right) |

oops in my above comment where I said "acts of license" I meant acts of violence. Let's not hurt each other. Lead from example.... |

It took just 37 minutes for a jury in Wichita, Kansas, to find anti-abortion activist Scott Roeder guilty of murdering later-term abortionist George Tiller.
