The piece reports on interviews conducted by New Left Media, in which two of its reporters asked attendees at an Ohio Sarah Palin book signing simple questions on the day’s issues. Reporting on the answers, ABC writes: Q — What issues would she bring to office? Woman — “Oh gee.” Other Woman — “Fairness, realness.” Woman — “She’s gonna make a difference” While this certainly plays into the Left’s narrative about the pale Palin intellect, ABC points out that it reflects not Palin and her supporters but the overall dumbing-down of America (and they illustrate this point well, as the above passage is rife with punctuation errors).

Excellent Article While I hardly possess the grammatical skills to match this author, I commend her writing ability and choice of topic. I doubt anyone could contend otherwise that Ms. Duke has hit the nail on the head with this one. Which brings up another congratulatory observation. The New American has really raised the bar in recent months for not only publishing well researched and highly educational articles covering a wide spectrum of issues, but doing so at a pace in high gear, offering high caliber insight into the top news stories and historical facts so often bludgeoned and twisted by the MSM. Hat's off TNA! You have definitely become a respectable and reliable journal in the war against disinformation! |

... Any report of ignorance can easily be faked. Videos can be edited to show only the intelligent responses or only the dumb responses. Articles can be biased either way. Polls usually lie. But if you personally go out and talk to people (which we all do), it will not take you very long to come to the conclusion that there are one heck of lot of people out there who are REALLY STUPID! There are some who WANT to be informed, but use the main stream media as their primary source. More prevalent are the number of people who actually have no desire to be informed, get what little they know from sound bites, and are more interested in "Survivor", "American Idol", and "the real" Michael Jackson. |

To jbs believer While I appreciate your commentary, please be informed that "Ms. Duke" is a man. In fact, based on his intellect, his devotion Truth and to the traditional American way, he is a man among men. I invite you to join the discussions at http://selwynduke.com. |

Apologize Thank you for the heads up Philip. A simple case of gender ignorance on my part and by no means any offense to "Mr." Duke. |

American schools have dumbed down the curriculum I am an American but have been living and teaching in Italy for about 13 years. I can say that the average Italian teenager is way more informed, disciplined in studies (2-3 hours of homework every day is common) and generally has a much broader knowledge base than than her American counterpart. Of particular concern for me is the inability of so many Americans to form articulate sentences and to express themselves in a coherent way, not to mention the terrible spelling and grammar used. Some Italians who have lived or travelled to the US report being shocked at the level of ignorance they found. America should be careful: there is a thin slice of highly educated people who are pulling the economy along, doing the research and making breakthroughs in science, etc. As the proportion of ignorant people grows, they only weigh down that tiny group, making innovation and progress more difficult. |

If ignorance really were bliss, anti-depressants would not be popped like M&M’s today. This is the conclusion we have to draw if a recent ABC News article
