AP reported on October 3 that “instead, the football team ran through a banner that read ‘This is Big Red Country’ before each bent on a knee to pray on the field of Tommy Cash Stadium.” The team has red uniforms, so the slogan fits, but ever since 9/11 the team had been using verses from the Bible such as “In God I have put my trust. I shall not be afraid.”

... This is another example of the work of the ACLU (the anti Christ lawyers union) in America and, of all of the subversive malcontents who hate Jesus Christ even unto death. America use to be a free country, but I fear those days have since passed. Maybe it's time for a second revolution? Elect all third party and throw out the reigning republicans and democrats who are responsible for the destruction of the Constitution and our "republic" which they all call a democracy. |

What's left of America When people in this country wake up and grow a spine this kind of thing will stop happening. I would bet if all the parents of the players had pulled their kids out of the game and not attended any games until this was resolved they would have a verse to run through this friday nite. This country was founded on faith in God not faith in budda or allah or what ever,it was founded WITH God all mighty. |

PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.. |

... I would like to note, first of all, that by posting this comment, I'm agreeing to this site's Terms of Usage, which allow the admins to change my comments. I would appreciate it, however, if they did not stifle my free speech. Reading the comment section, it becomes clear which side the majority of the readers fall along. However, I'd like to politely disagree. The Separation of Church and State is a tricky one, I'll admit. But the law is in place for a very good reason. If taxpayer-funded institutions, such as public schools, favor one religion over another, that is considered "respecting an establishment of religion." It is noted in the article that "Principal Jerry Ransom wholeheartedly endorsed the effort." As the head of the school, he sets the tone and policy. Christians should note that, regardless of their belief that their faith is the true one, the majority of the world disagrees. If it were verses from the Koran or Bhagavad Gita that the football players were using, the town would assuredly be up in arms about that. But legally, there's no difference between religious texts. |

As of their Friday night game on October 2, the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School football team, the Warriors, have been forbidden from using Bible verses on the large banner they run through to make their entrance onto the playing field.
