As Mr. Crosby reckons, there is a deep pool of untapped funds out there and the only barrier between schools and a program-saving windfall is convincing mom and dad to sacrifice one cup of coffee a day or one night out at the movies a week and give the money they save to Junior’s school.

Sound familiar? Like the "free" health care plan Obama is proposing? And inquiring minds want to know: Did Mr. Crosby go to public school before he became a "national board certified teacher?" Sounds like the usual bait and switch game to me. |

One of our better presidents William Henry Harrison has to be considered one of the best presidents the United States ever had. He did us the favor of dying after only a month in office. If only some of our modern presidents would have extended such courtesy. And how did we get so far off topic? |

Hilarious but sadly trueThe government (principally, the federal government) is going to break our legs and then wants to charge us for the crutches — all the while, consoling us by reminding us that without their care and concern, we wouldn’t be able to walk! |

They only see part of the picture... I think it's rather strange that many people can see part of the solution, but are incapable of making the jump to what would really work. This Mr Crosby seems to catch a glimpse of the power of privatization but cannot bring himself to accept to the real solution which is private schools and home schools with ZERO government involvement. The police power is simply not needed for education, therefor government should stay out of it. |

From The Communist Manifesto There are 10 points in the manifesto. Here is number ten. "10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc., etc." |

... We Home Schooled our children through graduation from the Christian Liberty Academy. My son was one of the first to apply for a new (then) Navy program to enlist and give college training for needed skills that would be then transferable to college upon end of service time. This also included a college tuition fund. Great deal. My son took the testing in Detroit and did well enough to get personal attention from an Admiral who came to us and said that he would like to personally speak for him to get him in. We were ecstatic! A bureaucrat in Washington said that she was disqualifying him for consideration because in the interview he mentioned that he was home schooled. The bureauctrat said that my son was "Over qualified to compete". The Navy officer made comment to us that he was ashamed of what has taken our country and apologized for our country. |

Over qualified to compete??? By this logic, the 1927 New York Yankees should have banned Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig because they were definitely "over qualified to compete"! Just like the loonies in Washington, the best is too good for our country. |

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on September 8 published an opinion piece by Brian Crosby. In his article, Mr. Crosby proffers a solution to the problem of underperforming schools and schools suffering a lack of resources and funds. According to Mr. Crosby, the cure to the nationwide pandemic of withering budget cuts is “to start charging parents tuition for their children’s public school education.”
