Wolves Will Thrive Despite Recent Hunts
In 1995 the federal government began transplanting Canadian gray wolves into Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. That program touched off a fierce range war that continues to rage, pitting farmers, ranchers, hunters, conservationists, outdoor recreationists, and rural folk against the major environmentalist lobbying organizations, government bureaucrats, the big-city media, and urban politicians.
From Rio to Copenhagen
Seventeen and a half years ago, in May-June 1992, this correspondent was jammed cheek to jowl with 30,000 greenies in a global mosh pit known as the United Nations Earth Summit. From that initial event in Rio de Janeiro — and its successors — has flowed a deluge of treaties, conventions, and proposed regimes to regulate (i.e., to control) all human life and activity on our planet.
2008 Climate Debate
According to former Vice President Al Gore, “the science is settled” on climate change. “The planet has a fever,” Gore said during testimony before Congress in 2007, and its cause, he averred, is too many cars, power plants, factories, and other human-related sources putting too many emissions into the atmosphere.
Blizzard Disrupts Global-warming Protest
They came. They saw. They were conquered — by Mother Nature. Hundreds of global-warming protesters descended on Washington, D.C., on Monday, March 2 to shut down the coal-fired Capitol Power Plant, which provides electrical power to Congress and a number of government buildings. Their plans were iced, however by temperatures that dipped into the teens, accompanied by a blizzard that dumped several inches on the nation’s capital. Schools and businesses were closed and many official government events were cancelled.
Earth in Carbon Dioxide Famine, Says Scientist
Fears of man-made global warming are “mistaken,” and far from suffering from too much carbon dioxide, as the daily headlines proclaim, our Earth is actually in the midst of a “CO2 famine.” So says Will Happer. Who is this heretic who dares to contradict Al Gore, Leonardo DiCapprio, the United Nations, and “scientific consensus”? He certainly can’t have any credibility on this issue if he’s not even a rock star or a Hollywood celebrity, right?
Polar Bears Thrive, Contrary to WWF Claims
You've probably seen the commercials; TV actor Noah Wyle (ER, The Librarian) somberly informs us of an impending grave catastrophe: "A tragedy is unfolding in the world today. Climate change is threatening one of the most magnificent wild animals on the planet. Polar bears. They're struggling to survive."
Big Chills for Global-warming Alarmism
Don't pay any attention to your frozen thermometer. Never mind that your city is shivering under a record-setting cold wave, paralyzed by another record-setting snowfall. Do not think twice about your mounting heating bill, electricity blackouts, or reports that heating oil deliveries for your area are not available. Even if your teeth are chattering, concentrate only on one thing: global warming, Global Warming, GLOBAL WARMING. Just wrap yourself in a blanket and re-watch Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. And remember, be very, very afraid ... of global warming.
NASA's James Hansen Pushes Carbon Tax in Letter to Obamas
James Hansen, who runs NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), has struck again. The political activist/scientist, global-warming guru, and boon companion to Al Gore has written a letter to Barack and Michelle Obama, imploring the president-elect and his wife to "decarbonize" the economy by imposing a steadily increasing "carbon tax" on coal, oil, and gas.
Asthma Sufferers Victimized by UN Ozone Madness
Beginning January 1, 2009, millions of asthma sufferers will no longer legally be able to obtain the low-cost albuterol inhalers that enable them to breathe. The inhalers have been outlawed by FDA regulations under the UN Montreal Protocol on Ozone Deplation.
Heat or Cold: Which Is More Deadly?
Which poses the greater health risk to humans: hot weather, or cold? According to global-warming alarmists, the answer is simple: heat kills. However, statistical evidence shows that cold weather is twice as deadly as hot weather.
