Jesse Jackson Jr., Democratic congressman from Illinois and son of the “civil rights” agitator, has resigned his House seat, citing ill health and an ongoing federal investigation for what Jackson referred to as “my share of mistakes.” While the investigation reportedly involves the misuse of campaign funds, “Jackson was also under a House Ethics Committee investigation over dealings with imprisoned ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich,” reported the Associated Press. Although the committee could still release a report into its findings, Jackson's resignation will prevent Congress from taking any action against him should it be revealed that he committed any wrongdoing.

UPS has confirmed that it will stop giving money to the Boy Scouts because the group prohibits homosexuals from serving as scout leaders. However, the company will continue to fund such pro-homosexual groups as the Human Rights Campaign.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) has turned its attack on one of its long-time allies, announcing that it is suing the federal government over the failure of the Internal Revenue Service to bar churches and Christian organizations from involvement in the political process.

According to the FFRF, its lawsuit, filed November 14 in a Madison, Wisconsin, U.S. District Court, “argues that the IRS is not enforcing the federal tax code, which prohibits tax-exempt religious organizations from electioneering.”

A Nevada judge has ruled against forcing a mentally disabled Reno woman to have an abortion, an option he was considering against the wishes of her Catholic, pro-life parents. Thirty-two-year-old Elisa Bauer, who has the mental capacity of a six-year-old, became pregnant a little over three months ago after wandering from her Reno group home. Her parents and legal guardians, Bill and Amy Bauer, do not know if their daughter was raped or had consensual sex. The father has not been identified.

Google reported a dramatic drop-off in its traffic to sites in China for about 12 hours Friday, November 9, into Saturday morning. According to Google's Transparency Report, which monitors traffic to Google's sites around the world, all of its services were inaccessible in China, with Chinese Internet monitor Greatfire.org confirming the outage. “We've checked and there's nothing wrong on our end,” a Google spokesperson e-mailed Computerworld. Observers noted that the blockage coincided with the beginning of Communist China's 18th Party Congress, at which the government is expected to name new leaders.
