The Homeschool Convention Season Is On
Spring is here, and all across America homeschool conventions are sprouting like mushrooms in virtually every state in the Union. And with each passing year, these mushrooms have grown larger and larger to the point where they require the biggest convention centers in their respective states. There are hundreds of vendors and exhibitors at these conventions offering a plethora of educational programs for parents seeking the best for their children, plus instructive workshops, and knowledgeable, charismatic speakers. It is wonderful to see how truly interested parents can be in the education of their children, browsing the vendor booths, asking questions, buying books and programs on a tight family budget without the help of the taxpayer.
What Parents Should Know About "Whole Language" and Other Pedagogical Nonsense
When parents are told that their child is having a “reading problem” in primary school, they usually accept the teacher’s explanation that little Johnny or Suzie have some sort of learning disability. The fact that these little rambunctious kids came to school having taught themselves to speak their own language is proof positive that they don’t have a learning disability. In fact they are quite learning able. Children who teach themselves to speak their own language virtually from birth are little dynamos of language learning. And when they enter school, no one expects them to suddenly have a learning problem. It doesn’t make sense, unless you understand what is being done to them in that school.
Was Andrew Breitbart Murdered?
Is it not a rather strange coincidence that the man who blew ACORN out of the water and threatened to expose the mainstream media for their lies would suddenly drop dead of no known cause? Andrew Breitbart had done what no other conservative had ever done: physically destroy an important bastion of radical-Alinsky activism. The radicals were pretty upset by Breitbart’s uncanny and stunning achievement, and they wondered what next he might do to mortally wound Obama’s chances of being reelected. Was Breitbart’s sudden death just a coincidence?
Can America Be Cured of Its Marxist Cancer?
When you consider how close we’ve come to the total destruction of our constitutional system of government, one must ask if it is even possible for us to recover from this socialist cancer that has stricken our body politic and culture. The disease, long and slow in developing, has spread throughout our public education system, our universities, and many of our cultural institutions. The only effective antibodies that have risen to fight the disease — The John Birch Society, the homeschool movement, the Tea Party movement, and the rise of Christian conservatism — may not be strong enough to kill the disease. The coming election in November may very well determine whether or not this Constitutional Republic can be saved or is gone forever.
What America Still Can Be
By all accounts, America at this time should be enjoying its greatest economic expansion and its greatest creation of wealth in its history. The spectacular advances in computer technology and invention and the discovery of enormous reserves of natural gas and shale oil should have led us by now into an unprecedented era of prosperity — with jobs begging to be filled. But we have in Washington a cabal of politicians, living in a 19th century socialist cocoon, determined to cripple this great nation and turn our potential happiness into a nightmare.
The High Cost of Dumbing Us Down
It now costs over $10,000 a year to “educate,” or brainwash, a child in a public school, whereas it costs about $550 to $1,000 a year to homeschool a child. The taxpayer pays nothing for the education of a child at home. Yet, the homeschooling parent must continue to pay the taxes for the public schools. This is just one of the minor injustices that exist in our society in the interest of education.
How Federal Billions Fund Our Socialist Public Schools
In my book, Is Public Education Necessary?, I pointed out how the public school movement was promoted in the 1830s and ‘40s by the Owenite communists, the Harvard Unitarians, and the Protestant evangelicals. The Owenites wanted to use the public schools as a means of turning young Americans into little communists who would as adults turn America into a communist or socialist society. The Harvard Unitarians wanted to use the government schools as the means of getting the Calvinist religion out of education. And the Protestant evangelicals, alarmed by heavy Catholic immigration, wanted to use the public schools as a means of turning Catholic children into Protestants and as a means of maintaining America’s basic Protestant culture.
Why Are Teens Killing Other Teens in Schools?
The latest school shootings at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, have reminded us that these school massacres did not end with the horrors of Columbine High School in Colorado on April 20, 1999, but have continued right up to the present. Some of these planned shootings have been nipped in the bud by students aware of what was about to happen. But the latest shooting simply indicates that as long as the public schools are the way they are, there will be no end to these killings.
More on Vaccines and Their Dangers
In my previous article on the vaccine controversy, which drew many comments, I made a very simple proposal. I proposed that the easiest way to find out if the vaccines were harming the children was to conduct a very straightforward survey: Ask the thousands of parents who have rejected inoculating their children if any of their children have become autistic; and ask those parents who have complied with the vaccination schedules if any of their children have become autistic or have suffered any other harmful effects.
Dyslexia and the Rockefellers
One of the great ironies of the Progressive Education Movement is that its leaders were able to convince John D. Rockefeller, Jr. that he ought to give his sons a good progressive education and donate $3 million to the Lincoln School, a new experiment in social education in accordance with John Dewey’s radical new ideas. So he put Nelson, Laurence, Winthrop, and David in the school, which turned them all into dyslexics, proving that progressive reading programs can cause dyslexia.
